how we got started

In January of 2001, several of the faculty at Highland Family Medicine were exploring ways to improve the morale of the residents (which was nearly subterranean) and the educational experience.

How to do this?   Why not food?

We tried a few things.   Pie?   Too much work.   Chips and dip?  Been there, done that.

One weekend Andy had a devious and genius idea.   “I bet it would really piss off [department administrator] if we served fondue in the preceptor room.”

With that, an idea was born.   Except, the administrator, along with everyone else, LOVED the fondues.

We had some misses.   Gruyere cheese?   Nope, smells too strong.    Some fondues were devoured quickly.   Others, lots of leftovers.

After a few years of rotating between fill-in-the-blank cheese and spice, chocolate, and peanut butter, we started getting creative.   VERY creative.

We will share our best recipes and stories here.   In a HIPAA compliant fashion, of course.
